It would be impossible for me to express my feelings
about the series of books that this tome represents, and this
work specifically without sounding like a total suck-up. These
people clearly work hard to do the sort of recreation many of us
are only able to dream about. I would prefer it if we didn't have
to simply rely on an estimate of their scholarship, but were able
to actually able to more fully appreciate that scholarship by the
publication of their notes. However, there seems to be a point
that either you blindly accept the word of the experts, or dig
into the information more dilligently. I am pleased to report
though, that the material that I've found here and looked to
support, has, for the most part, been relatively easy to
document.

This is a nice series of picture books for children, and
much of the material in them I have found in more scholastically
sound materials.

This work is fantastic, and is clearly one of the major

from.
- Köhler, Karl, 1825-1876. A History of costume
New York: Dover Publications, 1963
A reprint of the 1928 translation and revision of

its uses, but it is dangerous in that most people don't realize
just how old it is.

that of the Isle of Man : with a chapter on pre-Norman dress as

In many ways, this still seems to be THE work in this
field, although the material in Dunlevy does supercede it to a
great extent.

to use them with caution since there is not much actual citation
